4 ème album studio de Sandra, " Painting in yellow" est l'album de la maturité et le plus accompli. "Hiroshima" sort en février 1990 : Changement radical de thème avec se single est malgrès la prise de risque ce dernier cartone en Europe. Cela ne sera pas la cas pour les autres singles de l'album. A noter la dernière chanson " The journey " qui contient déja tous les éléments du futur concept "Enigma" . La chanson "Johnny wanna live " marque l'engagement de Sandra pour la protection des animaux et ne sortira en single qu'en octobre 1992 en promotion de la compilation "18 greatest hits". Un album à avoir absolument et à conseiller pour ceux voulant découvrir Sandra.
